Do you think Mobile Phones are Safe For You?

The numbers of mobile phones subscribers are increasing daily. Overall, it is estimated that there are three billion cell phone users in the world. But are all those people stopping for a second and thinking, “is the phone really safe to use?” Guess, it does not matter, as it does not have an immediate effect on your health but it is a slow killer.

Every time a call is made on your cell phone, a low level of radiofrequency energy at the phone’s antenna generates radio waves that ultimately transmit people’s voice from one phone to the other. The amount of radiation emitted depends on the duration of the call, the way the phone is held at the head, reception of the phone, place of the call taken etc. There is a controversy whether there is a definitive link between the use of cell phone and risk of cancer development.

A study at the Royal society of London showed that adolscents who start using cell phones before the age of 20 were 5 times more likely to develop brain cancer than those who did not use it. And it only occurs at the side on which you use the cell phone.

On the other hand, a 2008 University of Utah analysis looked at nine studies concluded that there is a finding with no overall increased risk of brain tumors among cell phone users. Another researcher at Pennsylvania States University said that they found no cancer and cell phone link.

Whatever the researches and findings may show, it is better to be on the side of being safe rather than be sorry later. And cell phones should be used by children for emergencies only.

Beat the Odds

So, it is now up to the users to decide which side of the line they want to stand. The debate is never going to end. Meanwhile here is what you can do:

  • Reduce the usage- As long as your phone is turned on it emits radiations and these become stronger when talking or texting. So, try to turn your phone off when you are not using it like at nights.
  • Keep it out of your pocket- The farther you are from base station, the more your phone emits radiation to get a signal, which causes your phone to heat up due to low reception. Make calls only when you have a strong signal and always keep your phone away from the body as much as possible.
  • Always use a headset- The electromagnetic waves emitted by handsets pose the risk of damaging your inner ear. So keep the device away from your ear and use a headset instead.
  • Send a text-It is a safer way to communicate than calling somebody as your body will be exposed to more radiation when you place the phone near your ear. When you text you keep the device away from your body so will be exposed to lesser radiation.
  • Switch to Bluetooth-Use a Bluetooth as it emits only a small amount of electromagnetic energy.

Though cell phone poses a danger or not to your body is a never concluding debate, you still need to be on the safe side rather be sorry later this tips by  Buzz2fone Mobile Blog
