So, all the Android fans around the world are talking about the latest OS; Android 4.4, aka “KitKat”! Already pre-installed on the new Google Nexus 5, most android devices and tablets should now expect the platform to be functioning on their screens.

But is KitKat as tasty as Jellybean? Well initial impressions are good, with one of the most exciting functions, the “OK, Google”; voice command, being given much more attention. Just say those two simple words into your android tablets and devices and they transform instantly into your personal assistant. There is no need to open an app or tap the screen. The list of things you can do without even touching the screen is almost as big as your own imagination, “what is on at the local cinema”, “What will the weather be like tomorrow?”, “What were the scores in the English Premier league?” and “What day is Franklin Roosevelt’s Birthday?” You can do it all with Ok, Google. Google have been hard at work to compete with the iPhone Siri and it certainly looks like they have made big improvements.

This new update for light and mobile computers certainly packs a punch, with many exciting upgrades including; faster multitasking, colorful and cool emojis, and (very importantly for us busy people) much improved battery life. We are still not at the stage where smartphones and mobile tablets last as long as the old handsets that would go all week without charge, but thanks to hardware sensor batching the battery life has been significantly improved!

Away from performance, the new Android 4.4 Kitkat also looks better. The design is cleaner and more modern, making the most of the high resolution screens that most android tablets and devices now boast. The movie app, phone app and music app all look sleeker and sexier than ever before.
