Today Google announced that it has updated 250,000 miles of roads around the world to gain points on the mapping foot. This new street view footage let users see more photographic images of a particular locations, a biggest update ever by covering 250,000 miles of roads across  17 countries. It followed another update by adding TIME ZONE FUNCTIONALITY into its Maps API, aiming to hit the audiences of different markets by boosting its profile and delivering the service even more local focus.

According to UIF Spitzer, Street View Program Manager, Google’s new update will increase street view coverage in Sweden, The U.S, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Italy, Great Britain, Macau, Denmark, Norway and Canada. It will also show Google Map creating “Special Collection”—Highly scenic visual features which covers natural geographic images of beautiful and interesting locations around the globe mainly in six countries, Japan, Spain, South Africa, France, Brazil, Mexico,  along with  few smaller collection updates in other countries.

Now you can rejoice while you are driving through it. Known with the back story, Apple company has dropped Google Maps for its native mapping service in favor of other third party source in the latest version of Apple’s mobile Operating  system i.e.,iOS6.  With these collection updates, Google seems to lay a groundwork for much more visual interactions especially against likes of Facebook and Yahoo which  could give it another mile on them front again.
