The new Microsoft Tablet is more than a mere tablet; it is a beautifully created device. It is the beautiful device of Windows 8 OS. Have a look at its pros and cons

microsoft tablet

Pros

1.In built keyboard.  With the windows OS the built in keyboard is a win win feature for the tablet. The feature which even the iPad lacks. It avoids the necessity to buy an additional keypad which usually tablet users do. Normally an additional keypad costs around $150, with Microsoft Surface tablet this is not needed. This is one major advantage this tablet has.

2.Dual Versions. Users have 2 choices with Surface tablet. They can either choose the Windows 8 or Windows RT version. Windows 8 device is clearly more preferred as it has Intel processor and removes the application compatibility problems that might occur in the Windows RT devices. The Windows 8 version costs $850 to $1,000. If you want a cheaper one then the RT version is for you.

3.Pricing. This is another major advantage of this tablet. As Microsoft does not have to pay for its licence to use Windows it can save that money for the hardware. Also, in order to compete with the other tablets its pricing is low to attract consumers. It costs less than $1000.

4.Surface is not comparable to iPad: It is a pro. Microsoft did its best to work as a different device. If it were out to work as killer to iPad, it would have failed. It is best to play at its strength than work as an imitator.

5.It has the right balance. Surface tablet has the right balance of all the games, entertainment features, netfix apps and all the business applications. It is definitely the personal computer that is portable, whatever purpose you use it for.

Cons

1.      Lack of  Cellular Connectivity. Both the versions of surface tablets are Wi-Fi only. They do not have cellular connectivity. If you want to use it everywhere then it might not be possible because Wi-Fi is not everywhere.

2.Small Screen. One advantage with the keyboard of the surface tablet is that users can use outlook and excel. But using outlook feels like just scrolling bars on 10” screen.

3.Limited Storage. Windows Surface has 64 GB and 128 GB versions, but the question is will this be enough for productive PC? If that is the question with the 64 and 128 GB versions then how much space will 32 GB version have for Windows and Office.

4.      Only a part of the problem is solved. Unlike Surface pro, the ARM based surface will not run old apps, will not join a domain, will not have apps at first.

These are the pros and cons of Microsoft tablet. It is up to the consumers to pick the tablet of their choice.
