Stay at one place
In case you are stuck at a remote area or in your car and locked and cannot move, stay there once you call the emergency services. Your position will be triangulated. Depending on how much time your communication reaches the tower, they know where you are located. So, do not move away from that place.

If your phone does not have a signal and you cannot place a call when you are in a remote area, move to higher ground till your phone catches at least one point of the signal. Have all your contact numbers in case of emergencies clearly listed in your phone. Set one or two numbers in speed dial too. Doing so will help in case you, are incapacitated for calling and someone who finds you can do so quickly to inform about you emergency.
