- Take calls only when your vehicle is stationary. Or if the call is urgent and you need to take it pull your vehicle over to one side of the road and pick up the call. But never do both the things simultaneously.
- Use a hands free accessory or put the phone on speaker mode while taking the call. This will prevent you from taking your hands of the wheel and also reduces the cell phone radiation as you keep your phone away from your head.
- Never text somebody or even read messages while driving. This can result in collision. Pull to a side if it is urgent.
- Program frequently called numbers on speed dial so that it will reduce dialing to minimum.
- If it is unavoidable situation and you must dial while you are driving and you do not have the chance to pull over, place your phone at eye level so that you can view the road clearly.
- Never take emotional calls when driving like quitting your job or breaking up with somebody as your entire attention will be on taking the call not on driving.
- Never take notes like a phone number or address while driving just pull over and complete the task or try to record on your phone the info for future reference.
- Make sure your phone is within reach while driving.
- Be careful while pulling over to take the call, never stop in dangerous areas and always keep doors locked and stay inside.
- If your phone is connected to the car’s power source, disconnect your phone before using jumper cables as damage might be caused by power surge.
- Make sure 911 is programmed in your phone memory in case you need to report an emergency.
